Every song has a story, but some have a soul.
That's how I feel about my latest song I wrote, "Dirt Road Revival."
It really was the feelings I felt when my youngest joined the Army and left to boot camp.
I missed the chaos and the chapter of my life being a Momma.
The house felt so silent and empty, I felt so lost.
I'd forgotten who I was before I was a Mom.. My only comfort was working on my Jeep or being out in the sunshine with the music blasting and the sunshine on my face. Those are the times I felt at peace and had time to think about how to start the next chapter of my life.
The melody needed to feel as real as my feelings—a little rough, but steady and comforting. It's the sound of coming home. It took a little over a thousand tries, (Yes, over a thousand) to get the melody and vocals to match what I heard in my head and heart.
